A poor widow and her beautiful daughter live in a rat infested hovel continually pestered by their wicked landlord, Sir Jasper Dreadful.  Sir Jasper wants both the rent in arrears and the daughter's hand in marriage otherwise he'll cast them out into the snow.  But of course in every melodrama there is always a hero.  Roger the minstrel.  However, Roger is a bit slow on the uptake.  

The plot thickens ....

Will the evil villain get his wicked way? ..... Will Roger save the day?

Will Mum reveal her dark and dreadful secret?  ..... And whose that fiddling?
