From the Board To my sister Matlacha Hookers – It has been six months since Hurricane Ian turned our lives upside down. On the one hand, it has been hard to see our neighbors struggle and leave our island. But on the other hand, the pride I have working side by side with you makes me proud. We have worked hard to ensure our Pine Island area stood against many odds. But now is the time not to give up and keep going. So many people are thankful for all the supplies, cleanups, hugs, smiles, and listening. It is mid-season, and we have a lot of events to support over the next six weeks, including the Island Luau this Sunday at St James City Civic Center. The Island Luau is sold out for the third year in a row! If you volunteered, please show up on time with your Hawaiian Luau Smiles and Flowers. Let’s show this island that we can also have some fun too! With Hooker hugs, Joanne Morin Correia Executive Board Member |
