POTPOURRI
September 16 marks the first performance of our Potpourri Concert series.
This performance will be held at the wonderful Glenwood House School Auditorium.
The programme is –
as its name suggests –
a collection of a variety of music types.
Popular composers such as George Gershwin
will rub shoulders with
Vangelis, John Williams and Henry Mancini.
A selection of movements from
The Carnival of the Animals
together with
Ogden Nash’s
witty explanatory verses
will delight young and old.
Conductor, Norman Carless,
has been dusting off his trumpet,
and has a rather singular version of
Astor Piazolla’s Libertango up his sleeve,
which will remain in the memory
long after the last echoes have died away.
The CM! Choir
will be joining the orchestra for the final 4 items,
which will include
Beethoven’s Hallelujah!
from his oratorio
Christ on the Mount of Olives.
This is a performance which will stir the soul,
and is not to be missed.
As an added treat the
Glenwood House Senior Marimba Group
will be providing music
for about
30 minutes before the
Glenwood concert.
There are 400+ seats in the auditorium
which are selling fast.
Be sure of your place and book online at www.carpemusicam.co.za.
On the 18th August the programme will be repeated in the
Knysna NG Church Hall in
Fichat Street at 15h30.
The last performance in this series is on
25th September at 15h30
at the
Laminin Agora Celebration Venue
near Hartenbos.(on the Oudtshoorn road)
Refreshments will be on sale
for an hour before all three concerts.
The atmosphere is always informal and relaxed,
so sit back and enjoy 90 minutes or so of
light musical entertainment.
