Governor Wes Moore's Buy Local Cookout |
|
|
On Thursday, July 18th, Prince George’s County’s first Black-owned brewery had the pleasure of being a part of Governor Moore’s Buy Local Cookout. We were honored to discuss our liquid, our plans for brick and mortar, how we plan to contribute to our community & Maryland agriculture, and lastly, how black ownership is less than 1% in the craft beer industry with both Governor Moore and the First Lady of Maryland, Dawn Flythe Moore. In case you were wondering, of course, the Governor and First Lady were all about the liquid! So that you know, the Maryland Maverick DIPA will make its return this year; Governor’s orders! Stay tuned for the release date. |

We’d also like to thank the Maryland Department of Agriculture and the Brewers Association of Maryland staff for their support in our cause for more diversity in craft beer in Maryland. Moments like these make us proud to be Marylanders. |

In our last newsletter, we announced our capital raise to establish our own brick-and-mortar location in Prince George’s County, MD. We’re thrilled to continue building on this major step forward in our journey! As a Black-owned brewery, our path has been shaped by unique challenges and triumphs. Our contract brewing relationship has been crucial in bringing our flavorful liquids to you, but it also comes with limitations on production control and scalability. We’re actively seeking private investors to help bring this dream to life. Thank you for your ongoing support as we work towards this exciting new chapter! For more details and to get involved, please complete this Google form. Why Prince George’s County? As Prince George’s County’s first black-owned brewery, choosing Prince George’s County for our permanent home was an easy decision. This vibrant and diverse community is one of the most affluent African American counties in the United States, and it has always been a cornerstone of our success. The county’s rich culture and strong support for local businesses make it the perfect environment for us to grow and thrive. With a brick-and-mortar location, we will have the opportunity to create a welcoming space for craft beer enthusiasts to gather and enjoy our liquid and vibe. The Benefits of Our Own Space:. Increased Production Capacity: We’ll be able to scale up our operations to meet the growing demand for our liquids (did someone say Plum Basil Farmhouse Ale?) Community Hub: Our legendary location will be more than just a brewery; it will be a community hub where we can host events, tastings, and gatherings that celebrate culture. Economic Impact: By investing in Prince George’s County, we are contributing to the local economy, creating jobs, and supporting other prominent and giving a platform to start-up local black-owned businesses.
We are incredibly excited about this next chapter and the endless possibilities it holds. As we embark on this capital-raising journey, we invite private investors to join us. Your support has been invaluable, and we look forward to sharing this dream with you every step of the way. |
