For health to be meaningful, let's look at it in the context of our greater life. Each of us is born with an innate drive to expand and grow. We discover our abilities and get real excited as we fulfill them. Our desire to recognize, then fulfill, our potentials, helps give us meaning, contentment and purpose throughout our life.
If, however, we experience strong and consistent impediments to our drive to discover and fulfill our abilities, we're going to feel a lot of frustration. Eventually a layer of dissatisfaction may permeate our lives. This creates the perfect environment for an emotional or physical health issue to crop up.
Personal fulfillment is directly linked to a strong sense of purpose. When meaningful fulfillment is blocked, our personal sense of purpose will likely crumble. But it is something we can consciously build back up again.
Instead of looking at an issue as a problem, a "bad" thing to fight or be ashamed of, we can view it as a friendly messenger. We can observe ourselves and see if there are areas where we are holding ourselves back.
Explore and discover ways you can let yourself expand and grow. Identify what inspires you, what lights you up. Get truthful with yourself on what matters to you. Are your daily activities reflecting your values? What could you do to close that gap, if there is one?
Trust your spontaneity. Your spontaneous self is going to invite you to hone in on your abilities and potentials. Each of us has an awareness of our own unique abilities. And we have a built-in desire to fulfill and contribute our abilities as fully as possible. This, indeed, is essential to personal health and well-being. Trust yourself.
