Word from the chairs We are increasingly excited about the forthcoming first GCTS conference which will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, 12-14 December 2023. We aim to include as many as possible from all over the world for a global gathering of like-minded researchers, practitioners and policy makers in our field. We already have a rich program with lots of interactions planned, and aim to establish a research agenda for future research on global psychotrauma topics. Sexual Violence Around the World: Prevalence and Mental Health Sequelae Sexual violence amongst college or university students is a global public health problem. Discrepancies in rates around the world may be the result of inconsistent cross cultural definitions and measurement of sexual violence and its consequences. Global SVRP - Sexual violence related pregnancies around the world Sexual violence, whether perpetrated by armed forces, strangers or partners, is prevalent worldwide and has far-reaching repercussions for victims. Despite increased attention for victims it is remarkable that an important issue remains unaddressed, namely Sexual Violence Related Pregnancies (SVRP).

Trauma, bereavement and grief: Ambiguous Loss Relatives of missing persons may have various Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) needs. We have started a collaboration to develop, evaluate and translate the Ambiguous Loss Inventory Plus (ALI+).. Check out the languages here. | | |

Forcibly displaced persons D-MEHER Project Digital MEntal HEalth for Refugees Members from the Mid Sweden University, Linköping University and an international network of researchers and practitioners within mental healthcare for refugees, the FUTURE network of the GCTS, are collaborating on a study aiming to gain a comprehensive understanding of the utilisation of digital tools in research and practice related to refugee mental health. We aim to gather experiences, thoughts and ideas from researchers and practitioners who have employed digital tools in refugee mental health across various settings. If you have relevant experience and are interested in participating in this project, please click the button below. You will be presented with open-ended questions, allowing you to provide as much detailed information as you wish. Feel free to share this information with colleagues or fellow researchers. FAIR Data - project updates The FAIR Data Theme is convening a “virtual summit” in early September on Creating (Re)Usable Traumatic Stress Data Resources. Invited participants - who have led a wide range of integrative data projects around the world - will come together to identify challenges and suggest practical next steps to make data sharing and re-use easier for researchers. Global crises - COVID-19 To date, we have 5 completed projects and 5 that are still on-going. Since our last newsletter, there have been 19 new peer-reviewed publications by our project leaders. Project results, publications, and media outputs are available at our theme webpage. Theme leaders recently completed a small survey study to assess barriers and facilitators to carrying out research in times of global crisis.

ISTSS is preparing for the 39th annual conference Early bird registration for the 39th ISTSS Annual Meeting will be available through Monday, September 4, 2023. In addition, late-breaking poster submissions are now being accepted until Friday, September 15, 2023 at 11:59 EDT, USA. Only poster abstract submissions will be considered. One complimentary 2023 ISTSS Annual Meeting registration will be available for a GCTS member. Preference will be given to those who are presenting at the meeting on a GCTS project. JSTSS 22nd annual meeting The 22nd Annual Meeting of the JSTSS was held in Tokyo on August 5-6. The theme was "Trauma Care Now and in the Future". Held in a hybrid format of in-person and archived delivery, the event attracted more than 700 registered attendees. The educational session was presented by Dr. Jeremy Tyler (Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry, University of Pennsylvania, Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety) on Targeting Treatment Mechanisms for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). |

DeGPT’s launched a new website The next annual meeting of the DeGPT will take place from 22 to 24 February 2024 in Vienna, Austria. We will focus primarily on individualized approaches to psychotraumatology. Currently, we plan online lectures, workshops, and podcasts on Complex PTSD, our annual theme for this year. | | |

Canadian Psychological Association Annual Convention - Save the date! The 2024 Annual Convention will be in Ottawa, Ontario, from June 21 to June 23. The call for abstracts should open during the Fall. ESTSS conference 2025 - Save the date! ESTSS successfully held the 17th biennial conference on June 14-17 in Belfast. This was the first face-to-face gathering after the COVID19-related restrictions and the ESTSS community enjoyed a live interaction and exchange. The next ESTSS conference will be held in Tbilisi, Georgia, hosted by the Georgian Society of Psychotrauma. The theme for the conference is "Exploring New Pathways of Healing and Recovery in Times of Global Uncertainty and Extreme Stress". The conference will take place on June 12-15, 2025. Save the date! ESTSS continuously supports Ukraine via efforts focused on ESTSS certification training for Ukrainian mental health professionals, supervision for therapists who are serving the war affected people and other relevant activities.. | | |

Agreement between the Korean Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (KSTSS) and MBC Culture Broadcastingy KSTSS and MBC Culture Broadcasting have entered into an agreement. In order to enhance the expertise in disaster broadcasting, five major disaster-related associations including the Korean Society of Civil Engineers, the Korea Water Resources Association, the Korean Meteorological Society, the Korean Society of Hazard Mitigation, and the KSTSSty have participated in this agreement. With this agreement as a foundation, they have decided to collaborate in disseminating accurate information for the prevention and response to future disasters. This marks the beginning of a cooperative effort to communicate precise information for disaster prevention and response in the future. Detailed report can be found in the KSTSS webpage below. | | |
