Church Family:
As summer comes to an end I am looking forward to some wonderful events we have planned for the rest of 2022!
As you can read above, we have a HEALTH FAIR happening at COV on September 11th. This is an important ministry that we are doing for our church and its surrounding community.
Then, the PICNIC that was originally planned for Labor Day weekend (but canceled due to extreme heat) has been re-scheduled for Sunday, October 9th.
Also in October we will be taking a trip to DESCANSO GARDENS for the “CARVED” exhibit. We did this last year and it was a big hit. Tickets will be on sale on Sunday mornings very soon.
Rounding out October will be “HALLO-WEENIES” in the courtyard of COV on Sunday, October 30th at 11:30am. There will also be fun and games in the courtyard for this event.
On Sunday, November 6th at all three services we will be observing ALL-SAINTS DAY by remembering those who have gone before us with our tradition of hanging leaves on trees in both or our sanctuaries.
On Thanksgiving morning we will gather at LBC for a SERVICE OF THANKSGIVING which will be led by our elders.
In December we will begin ADVENT with a YOUTH-LED SERVICE at our 10:30am service and, of course, we are all looking forward to a beautiful CHOIR CONCERT for Advent and Christmas filled with songs of “Alleluias.”
I am very excited that our 11PM CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE AT LBC will be returning this year. Because of covid we have not been able to gather that many people in the church, but this year we will be back. Of course, we will also have our 7PM COV CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE.
And here is some big news! CHRISTMAS DAY and NEW YEARS DAY both fall on a Sunday this year. So, we will be celebrating on those Sundays by having only ONE SERVICE on CHRISTMAS DAY and ONE SERVICE ON NEW YEARS DAY. Our entire church family will be gathering at 11pm at COV on both Sundays. It’s going to be wonderful to celebrate together with our whole congregation at one Sunday service!
These are just a few of the events, services, and ministries that we have coming up. I am so glad that we are able to get back to doing the things that we love to do together.
Peace and Health,
Pastor Michael
