Thank You to the Outgoing Board Members

Collective 365 launched Juneteenth 2020 with a small group of co-founders and has now expanded to our 100+ member organization that has awarded $55,000 in unrestricted grant funding in Black and Brown communities. This would not be possible without our co-founders and board members. The following co-founders have served as board members of Collective 365 and their 3-year term has come to an end: Allison Gilbreath, Felicia Baez Smith, Dr. Jenaé Harrington. Our founding board member, Dr. Ashley Gaddy Robbins, is also rolling off the board. Thank you for sharing your time, talent, treasure & testimony.

ScholarCHIPS

ScholarCHIPS provides college scholarships, mentoring, mental health supports, and a peer support network to college-bound young adults who have incarcerated parents, inspiring them to complete their college education. Yasmine Arrington, Founder and Executive Director, established ScholarCHIPS after she and her grandmother were searching for scholarships to help cover her future college tuition, but could not find one for teens like her with incarcerated parents. Realizing that millions of other youth like her have an incarcerated parent and would benefit from a college scholarship and mentorship program tailored to their experience, Yasmine decided to create one herself. ScholarCHIPS is the only organization in the DC region that works to achieve the following mission: provide college scholarships, mentorship, mental health supports, and a support network for children of incarcerated parents, inspiring them to complete their college education.

Glean LLC

Glean LLC was created in 2016 with the purpose of creating low-barrier jobs for those in need. Glean LLC was initiated as a commercial cleaning company that both provides excellence to our customers but also opportunities for our community. Over the past 6 years, Glean has provided income and opportunities to over 15 local citizens who were in need. The founder, Nicole Mason, was working in mental health and noticed families who attended sessions often needed stability of income and resources. Glean addresses workforce development concerns by 1) providing transportation for our staff 2) providing a staff employee assistance fund for those in emergency situations, 3) providing a higher pay wage for our staff, and 4) by creating a custom schedule for staff so that they are working nearest to their home (as to avoid extended travel times). Glean specifically reaches out to local residents who are unemployed or underemployed in Richmond, Virginia such as: veteran shelters, Department of Social Services, women's shelters and programs, and local nonprofits and churches.

The Good News Community Kitchen

The Good News Community Kitchen (TGNCK) is a non-profit organization established to rebuild and strengthen communities by fighting hunger, one meal at a time, through hunger relief, hygiene essentials, and workforce development in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC Metropolitan. TGNCK’s largest program is Mobile Meals, which provides hot meals and groceries to individuals and families experiencing hunger, reaching 12,350 unique clients annually. TGNCK is a Black, Veteran, and women-led grassroots organization established in 2015 to rebuild and strengthen communities by fighting hunger, one meal at a time, through hunger relief, hygiene essentials, and workforce development programming.  TGNCK began with one woman taking action to help feed people experiencing homelessness, and since then, our network has grown to include thousands of clients, hundreds of volunteers, and partnerships with government, nonprofit, religious organizations, and 26 Title I schools. The necessity and incredible success of our Mobile Meals program have attracted the attention of principals, school social workers, and counselors at 14 additional Title I schools who are eager to form new partnerships with us. That’s approximately 3,500 more students and their family members who are waiting and in need of our services.
