GORDON SOLOMON GALLERY & STUDIO, CAYMAN BRAC

Self-taught Caymanian artist Gordon Solomon, best known for his ‘spots of light’ technique, has no formal training. However, he has worked diligently for years to create a signature style that draws on graphic design skills, Pointillism, and Abstraction. Before opening his studio in Cayman Brac, Solomon worked as an outreach programme instructor for the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands. His work explores both traditional Caymanian heritage and current events.

For Cayman Art Week, the gallery will exhibit works by the artist in the exhibition Windows to the Soul, along with a photography exhibition, Little Things, by Alta Solomon. The background meaning of these small-scale photographs lends to the notion that we should be aware of the big things going on around us. They are important; however, when the big things start to close in on us and make us feel overwhelmed, we should indeed “stop and smell the roses.”
