Put up a bat box this Halloween to provide a roosting place for this protected - and not really scary - mammal. You can buy or make one to attach to a tall tree or house wall, or get one built-in to the wall or roof of an extension. Use a bat detector at dusk to identify which bat species visit your area, or do a spooky bat walk.
