The border closures have prevented Hon John Anderson AO and Emeritus Professor Robin Batterham AO from coming, a keen disappointment, especially as they had both done a lot of preparation and would have contributed enormously.

However, we had contingencies in place and are pleased and proud to present some excellent alternative speakers, who have picked up the preparation seamlessly:

  • Julieanne Alroe, chair of Infrastructure Australia and Queensland Ballet, is stepping up from MC to moderator.
  • Graham Young, Executive Director of the Australian Institute for Progress, joins the panel.
  • Emeritus Professor Helen Chenery, President the Queensland Academy of Arts and Sciences, our collaborator on this event, will be MC.

The event is sold right out, but there are always some no-shows and it is a pity to see wasted seats. We have created a limited number of last-minute tickets for people who are happy to watch the discussion seated at the bar on a TV monitor, worst case. There is a high probability they will get a proper seat. So if you know someone who missed out on a ticket, they can book a seat-filler ticket here until midday.
