Hello Friends,

My name is Delbert Richardson and I am a Community Scholar and Second-Generation Storyteller of the National Award-Winning American History Traveling Museum: The Unspoken Truths. In 2005 I  had this vision which slowly turned into a reality. I began my journey speaking to 15 students, and now 15 years later I have had the honor of talking to thousands of students and with your help, I am hoping to reach tens of thousands of young minds. With the use of authentic artifacts, storyboards, and the ancient art of storytelling, I teach “American History” through an Afrocentric lens. This work is organized into four sections: 

• Mother Africa - the many contributions by Africans in the area of science, technology, engineering, [arts,] and mathematics (S.T.E.A.M. / S.T.E.M.); 
• American Chattel Slavery - the brutal treatment and psychological impacts on African Americans of the Diaspora; 
• The Jim Crow Era - the racial caste system that focused on the creation and enforcement of legalized segregation; and 
• Still We Rise - the many contributions in the Americas, including Black inventors/inventions.

Our national award-winning program has been foundational to establishing racial equity in our education system, boldly addressing the needs of students of color who are farthest away from educational and social justice. 

Two ways to participate include (1) Community Engagement and (2) Program Delivery through the Museum Experience.
