Updates & Friendly Reminders

If your child brings their iPads home over the weekend, kindly ensure they return them to school with at least a 50% charge on Monday.

Additionally, I encourage you to go through your child's purple communication folder with them every day after school. Have them share what they've been working on in school and discuss both their successes (GLOWS) and areas for improvement (GROWS) in their work. Thank you!

Thank you SO much to everyone who was able to contribute to our school supply needs!! We are still short a few things that would really help out getting us to the end of the year!

Reading

Last week into this week we have been paying close attention to books written & illustrated by Eric Carle. We wil have a few more of his books pop up as we continue our discussions with seeds, plants, insects, and animals.

Your child contributed to a class book themed around "Head to Toe." They were tasked with describing an action they can perform and likening it to an animal. For example: "I can jump like a dolphin."

Additionally, we explored "Today is Monday" together, collaborating as a class to reconstruct the story in its correct sequence. Afterwards, your child received their own emergent copy to practice tracing, coloring, and reading independently.

This week we read the book Seed Secrets. Your child was asked to identify the key details from the text & identify the different reasons to support why the author stated "Seeds make plants. Plants can make more seeds." Ask your child the different ways plants can make & spread their seeds.

Writing

We are coming to a close on our narrative writing pieces and will be moving on to How To Books next week.

Math

Next week in Math, we'll start Module 5, exploring Numbers up to 20. Our main focus will be understanding the base ten concept along with combinations like 10 and 2 to make 12 or 10 and 5 to make 15, for example.

Second Step

This week in Second Step your child discussed Fair Ways to Play. A home link went home with your child on Friday.
