Celebrating our Partnerships "Nourish is a national not-for-profit that was launched with a simple idea: how can the hospital tray be a platform to dream big and transform our food and health systems? Nourish works with health care and community leaders across the country to harness the power of food to build health for people and the planet. This is accomplished through multi-year communities of practice (the Anchor Cohorts), Indigenous foodways learning (Food is Our Medicine), and climate action with food (Planetary Health Menus), as well as strategic communications and policy work. Nourish is proud to work with PEACH and many Ontario health care organizations" -Amy Ford, Climate Program Manager For more information, check out the Nourish website! PEACH of the Month “Giving spotlight to our very own PEACH members” “It was a frenetic time to work in healthcare during the COVID19 pandemic but living in the face of rapid changes and new threats also inspired personal reflection. During a short maternity leave, I learned about planetary health through virtual courses. This approach to environmental sustainability appealed to me as a new parent, a physician, and an outdoors enthusiast. While attending an Ontario Rheumatology Association townhall, a call for member ideas sparked inspiration that led to the creation of an adhoc committee within our specialty group. From there, we connected with other physicians who have long been involved in this work and collaborated on updating an ambulatory care toolkit. We have ongoing projects to tackle the logistical realities of greening healthcare spaces while amplifying the idea of the triple bottom line - quality patient care, environmental sustainability and cost savings to the system to do our small part as healthcare workers and members of society in the face of a complex global crisis.” |
