| | The QFCA attended Queensland Parliament House last night to accept a $30000 capacity building grant for the organisation to support Neighbourhood Centres responding to drought. The grant was presented by the Queensland Community Foundation at the commencement of Philanthropy Week. | | |

| | The Baringa Community Centre was built through a joint partnership between Stockland and Sunshine Coast Shire Council in the new development of Baringa, outside of Caloundra. The new centre will be managed by Caloundra Community Centre and was opened last week by the local Mayor and Councillor. | | |

| | QFCA members can apply for a new grants program from ANHCA. We've partnered with Sidney Myer Fund to deliver 'Supporting Stronger Communities', for metro-based houses tackling poverty and disadvantage.For rural/regional houses, grants are being delivered by FRRR through their 'Strengthening Rural Communities' program. | | |

| | Our hearts go out to the Hervey Bay community, after the tragic loss of a mother and her four young children in a car crash near Kingaroy. Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre at Pialba hosted a memorial service for hundreds of community members, including friends and family. Local Neighbourhood and Community Centres are sites where people find support when local communities face tragedy and disaster. We are sorry for the loss of this young family and all who are affected. | | |

| | The Community Connect worker trial has been renewed in the state budget. The QFCA produced a report about the trial earlier this year highlighting the effectiveness of the program and recommended its continuation. Community Connect sites were informed about the trial funding by their MP's yesterday and you can read the media release here: | | |

We're aiming to develop a Neighbourhood Centre stream for the conference and are encouraging the sector to submit proposals for presentations.
