Ariadni #243 of Upper Darby, PA welcomed four new sisters into our Order!

Flat Athena

Flat Athena really missed traveling. She has been on the go nonstop since the Bayside  Pygmalion #126 chapter requested her for their annual Halloween party. Flat Athena was able to join her sisters in Bayside who raised $1,000 for Kat’s Ribbon of Hope.

Right after Halloween, Flat Athena made her way to Dayton, Ohio, where she has been helping the Venus Maliea #129 chapter in numerous activities such as promoting their chapter fundraiser, serving coffee and lunch, and shopping for an Adopt A Family.

Flat Athena's next destination is already booked, and she will be en route next week. Her stop is right next door to Ohio. Can you guess where she's heading next?

Please email Grand Governor Maria at moagrandgovernor@gmail.comif your chapter would like to request Flat Athena!

Add her on Instagram @flatathena to see all of her travels!

Fundraising and Philanthropy

This year, the Maids of Athena and Sons of Pericles are teaming up to support Ronald McDonald House New York's Greek Division. This organization provides support services for families from Greece and Cyprus, as well as for Greek-Americans staying in New York City while their child is battling cancer.

Please help us support this fantastic organization by purchasing our $20 raffle tickets. The raffle will be drawn at our 2022 National Convention at Disney World in Orlando, FL. The Grand Prize is $1,500 and Second Prize is $500.

If you have any questions about our National Project or would like some raffle tickets to sell, please contact moagrandtreasurer@gmail.com for more details.

Fashion 101

Fall 2021 fashion trends are all about the timeless, spirited pieces that encourage dressing up, going out, and feeling joy. Elevate your style by adding some of these pieces to your fall wardrobe. You may not have to look very far as these styles might already be hiding at the back of your closet!

Bright Colors: Yes, classic neutral knits are essential, but this fall the brighter the color, the better the sweater. Combine two or more in-your-face shades to achieve a color-blocked look. Alternatively, go for a more muted look and allow one colorful item to act as your statement piece to make those wintry days a bit brighter.

Plaid: Surprise, surprise—plaid is still a must-have fall print. This one comes back around each and every year, so if you're wondering whether your favorite plaid skirt is still on-trend, the answer is 100% yes. Lean into the preppy look and channel your inner Cher Horowitz from Clueless and go for a matching plaid miniskirt suit set!

Faux Leather: No item is more crucial to a closet than a great leather jacket. This season’s styles have a little extra zest than your average moto jacket. Try a faux leather bomber or opt for a longer style for a more professional look. Otherwise, you can add a faux leather skirt or trousers to change up your day-to-day ensemble.

These timeless trends are sure to elevate your professional wardrobe and are easy to transition from everyday, work or going out looks as the weather cools down and winter approaches.

President's Project

This year, the President's Project is the Smile of a Child (Χαμόγελο του Παιδιού) which is the only specialized facility in Greece that provides customized clinical mental health services for the therapeutic treatment and psychological rehabilitation of children and adolescent victims of abuse, neglect, and domestic violence.

Grand President Maria Ana is challenging each chapter to host a fundraiser this fall with the proceeds benefiting this organization. Additionally, you can support this project by purchasing one of our custom Travel Jewelry Cases for $32!

Chapter Spotlight

We love to highlight individual Chapters that are exemplifying the ideals of our Sisterhood for our Chapter Spotlight. This month, we would like to acknowledge our sisters in Winnipeg!

Olympia #229 just welcomed six new members at their first in-person meeting in many months! We are so excited to see what is coming next for our sisters in Winnipeg!

Governor's Project

The Maids of Athena Grand Lodge supports various causes with the Governor's Projects. For the fall season, we have chosen Penelope’s House in Alabama as it provides safety, protection, and support to victims of domestic violence and their children via education, advocacy, and a shelter.
We encourage all our members to show support by participating in challenges, sharing local community resources on social media, creating awareness, fundraising, donating, wearing purple, and participating in our purple ribbon campaign.
Over the course of the year, we will announce more projects to come.

For more information about this project, please email Grand Governor Maria at moagrandgovernor@gmail.com.

Maid to Lead

The fifth annual Maid to Lead Program is about to begin!

The Grand Lodge identified a group of strong leaders within our organization and will send out official nominations for this program in the coming weeks. Once these young ladies accept their nominations, they will be divided into committees, each led by an officer on the MOA Grand Lodge. Based on their performance and contributions, nominees will be eligible for selection to participate in our Maid to Lead conference in Washington, D.C. in the spring. The conference will focus on team building, leadership skills, and knowledge sharing. Nominees will get the opportunity to work alongside Grand Lodge members and have clear insight into the Grand Lodge. The experience will be incomparable and important for those thinking about running for the Maids of Athena Grand Lodge in the future.

Stay tuned for more M2L updates!
