A WORLD PREMIERE AT OLYMPIC STRINGS CAMP

We are excited to announce a commission by composer and cellist, Caleb Vaughn-Jones. This is a joint commission with the Port Angeles High School and will be dedicated to the string students of Port Angeles. PAHS Orchestra Director Nathan Rødal will help ensure that the parts are written at a level that is ideal for high school students, who we hope will join us at camp this year.

The world premiere will be performed by the Olympic Strings Workshop Chamber Orchestra on August 5, conducted by Dr. James Ray.

Camp 2021 will be IN PERSON August 1 - 6.

Apply by June 15 to qualify for a full scholarship!

Evan enjoys the balance the Olympic String Workshop strikes between a rigorous music intensive experience and a traditional, fun summer camp.

Marley Cochran is a Port Angeles-raised violinist now finishing her third year at Pacific Lutheran University studying both Sociology and Holocaust and Genocide Studies. Over the past four years, she has performed regularly with the Port Angeles Symphony. At OSW camp, she loves morning yoga and playing great music with friends.

☀️ YOGA FOR MUSICIANS ☀️

Morning Yoga?

Think of it as chamber music without the instruments: we move and breathe together, connecting with each other finally settling into a peaceful mental state from which we walk away with a fresh perspective.

Music and the Elements

This summer each yoga class will focus on a different element: earth, water, fire, air, and space. These themes will carry over into technique class and performance training, creating a simple way to understand and retain complex musical concepts well beyond the camp experience.

Will you help support a student?

We believe that money should never be a barrier to a musical education, and we ensure that every student is eligible for financial assistance. Thanks to a generous grant from the William and Valerie Anders Foundation, every dollar donated to our scholarship fund will be matched. Please help us reach our goal of $15,000 in 2021. Your support turns into memories for a lifetime!
