JULY

NEWSLETTER

Summer is here. And while I wish my mind could be filled with ice cream, sun and peacefulness, my heart is heavy.  Every day, there is something else to grieve -- loss of rights, loss of lives. Like many of you, I grapple with how to move through these times.

I don't have the answers, but one thing I know is that I am not alone in my my feelings. I also know that many strong and brave people in our community are rolling up their sleeves, organizing and not giving up.

Belonging Books is here to make space for healing, joy and celebration, even when it feels hard...especially when it feels hard.

Bookselling Pop-Ups

Belonging Books will set up at these special community events and markets, selling thoughtfully-curated books and other items made by POC/LGBTQIA+ owned small businesses.

Bookseller Pop-Up Schedule

Saturday, July 9 and August 6

The Mashpee Wampanoag CDC is hosting a farmers’ & crafts market on tribal grounds every other Saturday in the summer.

Come and buy fresh fish and shellfish from tribal members. There will also be artists, crafters, fruit and vegetable vendors.

Belonging Books is grateful to participate on July 9 and August 6.

Saturday, July 16

In the morning, I will join my friend, colleague, and incredible community leader and educator, Angie Chilaka.

She will be promoting children's literacy and her daughter's book, "Early Cape Verdean & Portuguese Genealogy of Harwich, MA" (by Amanda Raneo Chilaka).

Belonging Books will be at Angie's table and have some children's books available for sale.

In the evening, I will vend at the Daniel Webster Inn for Amplify POC at an all-expense paid relaxing overnight weekend getaway for Black and Brown adolescent girls from Boston (ages 10-14) and their mothers or guardians (auntie, older sister, grandmother, etc.) hosted by Love Your Menses. At this retreat, these young women will learn about menstrual health, participate in wellness activities, and build sisterhood!
