Franklin Williamson "CAC"

MDT Coordinator, Kyllah, here! We have so much to be thankful for this holiday season and we are excited to fill you in on what's been happening this last quarter!

In this newsletter, we are going to update you about the trainings we've been able to attend, opportunities we've had to present to the community, some exciting accomplishments, and fundraisers we've been a part of since the last newsletter.

Most of all, we are incredibly thankful for you, our community, in the role you play in continuing our mission. We hope you enjoy this newsletter!

Downstate Conference on Child Abuse

The Southern Illinois CAC Directors hosted the 29th Annual Downstate on Child Abuse Conference in Fairview Heights, Illinois. This was our first conference back in-person since COVID and it was so exciting to see rooms full of MDT members eager to learn more about the work we do. Check out our brochure below to see the speakers we had!

The FWCAC has been busy visiting local places across our community to educate others on identifying child abuse, what to do when a child discloses abuse, and what the CAC's mission is. We know it takes a community to fight child abuse and we are grateful to know our community is apart of the fight!

Thank you to the following places for allowing our Executive Director, Sarah Anderson, and our MDT Coordinator, Kyllah Glass, to come and present:

Franklin County Citizens Academy

SIU Early Childhood

Herrin Jr High & High School

Herrin FBLA

SIU Fall Institute

Carterville Area Rotary Club

CASA of Williamson County

We had the pleasure of visiting Madison County Child Advocacy Center's open house and ribbon cutting ceremony to help celebrate their 20th anniversary!

While CAC's all have the same goal of serving child victims of abuse, it's neat to see how each Center carries out their services and mission!

Join us in thanking our Intake Coordinator, Misty, for her dedication to serving the children of our community all these years! Misty plays a vital role in keeping the FWCAC function day after day. We couldn't do what we do, without her!

Cheers to 22 years!

The FWCAC would like to congratulate Skylar on completing her practicum experience at the center! Skylar is a Child and Family Service major at Southern Illinois University with the intention of serving families and children once she graduates. We are thankful to be able to teach upcoming professionals about opportunities provided from CAC's across the state. Good luck, Skylar, as you continue to work towards your degree. We can't wait to see the change you are going to make in the future!

Living for Gavin: Gavin's Hallows Eve 5K

The CAC is grateful to have been selected as Living For Gavin's charity of choice for this year's 5K. Though it was a bit chilly, we had so much fun & are so thankful!

Living for Gavin is a Non-Profit organization with the mission to bring heightened awareness of domestic violence. They seek to help our community through organized fundraising and donations to those in need. Their goal is to preserve the memory of their loved one, Gavin Lowe. Gavin was a 12-year-old boy who loved sports, animals, playing with friends, and spending time with family. He was taken from this world on Christmas morning of 2019.

8th Annual Harvest Moon Ball

The 8th Annual Harvest Moon Ball is officially wrapped up and thanks to you all, it was the most successful and FUN one yet!

The Perry-Jackson Child Advocacy Center and Franklin-Williamson Child Advocacy Center would like to give a final thanks to our event sponsors, BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois, Southern Illinois Healthcare, Alliance Wheel Services LLC, Knight Hawk Coal, Aisin, and Prysmian. To Music in Motion DJ Shows for great music and getting our guests out on the dance floor! And lastly, to Jonathan Reiman with Walker's Bluff for such beautiful décor and a phenomenal dinner. We are always blown away by the beauty of the space at Legends.

We're already looking forward to next year's event and seeing everyone again!

Thank you to the following businesses and organizations for donating to this year's HMB:

Looking to Give Back this Holiday Season?

Look no further! Our Amazon Wishlist is an easy and convenient way to support the children right here in your community.

When children come to the CAC for their interview, we provide snacks, drinks, send them home with a backpack full of hygiene products, fidget toys, books, and school supplies. And while we run through these products rather quickly, donors who shop our Amazon Wishlist allow us to keep giving.
