Stepping Through The Portal

It has come to that time, where I am counting down the weeks and the days until my guess date: November 20th, 2023, just under 2 months away!!!

What will being a mother be like? What will birth be like? How will entering this phase of my life change me, my priorities, my perspective?

I truly don't know and will not pretend to have all the answers. But I wanted to share with you my tentative plans, as best as one can plan for something as unpredictable and organic as birth and parenthood.

In a nutshell this is our TENTATIVE plan:

I am hoping to continue to be able to work as normal until October 30th.

After that, I will be feeling it out on a week by week, or possibly day by day basis, and ask for your understanding in the unpredictable nature of this time.

When I stop working, either because pregnancy demands that I do so, or because labor starts, I plan to send out a pre written newsletter similar to this, that will be short and sweet and alert you that any appointments you have coming up are canceled for the time being.

Once baby arrives I will most likely be taking at least 3 months maternity leave, taking us to sometime in February. At that point I will re-evaluate how I and my growing family are doing and possibly start sprinkling in some availability for appointments!

I think initially those appointments will only be at Fortified, rather than in my home, as I protect our sacred little nest here. And lets be real, a massage where I or you can hear my baby crying while my husband tries to console them in the other room does not sound very relaxing!

Growing a Baby

Growing a baby is a wild and magical experience that I had dreamed of and prayed for, well, for years! And now that I am finally getting to experience it I am doing my best to be as present to each moment as I can, never taking it for granted, and appreciating each day.

As many of you know, my husband and I had an infertility journey and for a while I wasn't sure if I would ever be able to carry a baby inside me. My heart goes out to any person dreaming of a child for whom that path has not been as straightforward or easy as hoped for.

Being pregnant is a strangely personal and at many times internal journey, with days where I feel elated and on top of the moon, and days where I feel uncomfortable and tired and others when I feel anxious and teary. I don't think any pregnancy journey is the same, but I encourage you to love and appreciate and be gentle with any mama you know, no matter what stage of the journey they are in!

Come get some bodywork before I head out on Maternity Leave!

I must admit, at this point, I am not actively seeking new clients. But I am still finding my work with clients incredibly nourishing for my body, mind and soul. And there is something special about being in that healing space with a 3rd little soul, who just might give you a little bump of extra love during your session!

All jokes aside though, I do apologize if I accidentally bump your head or shoulder, etc. with my belly. It is becoming a more regular occurrence as it grows!

But please don't hesitate to book your appointments, and I hope I get to see you before baby comes.

I am starting to limit appointments to no more than 3 on a given day, but you should be able to book with me during the following times:

At Fortified Wellness Studio:

Mondays 2-7pm

Tuesdays 2-7pm

Fridays 2-7pm

In San Souci:

Mondays 11am-1pm

Tuesdays 11am-1pm

Wednesdays 10am-7:30pm

Thursdays 10am-7:30pm

Fridays 11:30am-1pm

And for a little bit of humor, because oh this is so resonating with me as I enter the final months of pregnancy.....

The biggest compliment is a referral!
