Dear NAB friends, Over the past few weeks, the NAB has been intensifying its efforts to develop tools supporting the growth of the impact investing sector: you can find out how in our 2022 Impact report. In 2023, we want to start spreading the idea that all institutional investors should be able to set a target at Board level of at least 10% of their Assets under Management invested in impact projects by 2025. Most market leaders have already reached, or passed, this target: we know it's realistic and attainable. That's why we will keep working on removing the barriers to scaling up, starting with demystifying impact investing: yes, you can find a pipeline, and no, you do not need to accept a trade-off on your return. Although, on that last one... more and more policy-makers and regulators are starting to realise that the effects of negative impacts might strongly affect corporations and their results. Double materiality and systemic risks are around the corner, and with them, will come the pricing of impact. The question is not anymore "if" but "when". Enjoy the newsletter. 2021-2023 Dutch Pension Funds - Impact Investments |
Last week we published a report highlighting some examples of impact investments made by Dutch pension funds over the last 18 months. As NAB, we often hear that the lack of suitable investment opportunities is one of the barriers faced by institutional investors when it comes to impact investing. This report aims to inspire institutional investors, showcasing possibilities in different themes and asset classes and it is part of our effort to support them in mobilising capital, to reach at least 10% of their AuM invested in impact projects. |

Member call for collaboration: DRK Foundation |
To make a true difference in our societal challenges, we need to act more intelligently about deploying capital to the solutions brought before us. That is why Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation wants to bring together a group of Dutch impact first investors to align their investment thesis and to start collaborating more, as more can be achieved together than the sum of the parts. DRK Foundation invests globally in early-stage organizations (post-pilot, pre-scale) with innovative and highly impactful ideas that have the potential to scale in a variety of sectors. If you wish to learn more about this project or want to join, please reach out to Cheyenne Kooijman via ckooijman@drkfoundation.org. |

Jack recently retired after a long career at a.s.r. where he was last CIO of a.s.r. Insurances and CEO of a.s.r. Asset Management. As a farewell present he asked his colleagues and relations to make a personal donation to the NAB. Yvonne Bakkum, chair of the NAB Board, received the collected funds on behalf of the NAB. Thank you for this thoughtful action, Jack, and for supporting the activities of the NAB! If you too, want to individually support our ecosystem building work, check out our ANBI page, or contact us. |
