Hello, Art and Design Friends! Can you feel it?! There's a change coming... the snow is gradually melting, and our spring bulbs are busy growing their little hearts out, ready to burst forth and welcome a new season. Change is good. It represents positive growth to me... an evolution into a new beginning, a different way of looking at life, or a unique personal expression. Although change is inevitable, growth is optional. Let's look at the transitions that have occurred in our lives. What can these changes offer us in growth opportunities? What change are you currently experiencing? Cheers to new growth! P.S. If your inbox is maxed out, or you'd prefer not to receive this newsletter, you're always welcome to unsubscribe at the bottom of the page. |

Delicate ArchEven the most enduring objects are temporary. Delicate Arch in Arches National Park has been slowly sculpted by wind, water, and time to create its majestic form, which is known and loved by many. When I first began painting, I fell in love with oil paints and their silky, vibrant, blendable paint characteristics. My paint medium of choice last year was acrylic, as its quick-drying nature creates a more graphic, layered appearance. It's been delightful to develop a style with both, exploring the joys and frustrations of both mediums and combining the best of both worlds. |

I dove back into oil paints this year with some Southwestern scenes, desiring improved rock painting skills and an expanded color palette. Such fun! This Southwestern scene was a perfect subject for further developing my style. "Delicate Arch" 24" x 18" | oil on canvas

Tech-Nichol Speaking of change... Tech-Nichol Device Repair changed their Durango location to Old Highway 3 last year, and they are busier and better than ever! |
|
|
Tech-Nichol has been fixin' stuff since 2013. They recently changed their location to 931 CO Hwy-3 B in Durango and are busy helping Durangoans with computer and phone screen repairs, data transfers, and computer repairs. Tech-Nichol was known for its heart-shaped logo on its sandwich board advertising at its old Main Ave Durango office. It was a fun, recognizable brand with solid elements, but they desired a cleaner, more professional mark to move forward and expand their offerings. Tech-Nichol just LOVES keeping your computers powered up, and they do it well. Tech-Nichol: We Have Mastered The Art Of Fixin' Stuff

Spring Fennel Salad I've savored soups all winter, whether chunky stews, steaming bone broths, or creamy purees. But it's time for a change! Although there's still snow in Durango, I'm craving a cooler, fresher crunch on my plate, and this recipe is always appreciated when spring is just around the corner. Enjoy the aroma of slicing a fennel bulb this month and enjoy its refreshing flavor.

I'll be April's featured artist! On April 7 at 5:30pm, I'll demonstrate the unique qualities of oil and acrylic paints. Witness the creation of two cloudscape paintings in oil and acrylic in order to compare these two mediums. As an example, these two images are from the same Falls Creek scene in Durango... a view looking north up the valley on a beautiful afternoon, enjoying cocktails with dear friends and watching the clouds dance across the sky. The top image is an ethereal, gauzy oil interpretation, while the bottom image is acrylic, with a graphic, layered style. |
