MARCH News

Fellowship of Australian Writers

Western Australia  2020

Dear Members and Friends,

Thank you for your support of FAWWA during a busy summer, with the Fringe Festival and the Business of Being a Writer Seminar and Tom Collins Poetry Prize. I hope you enjoy this March newsletter.

This month we welcome Carol Millner to the position of FAWWA Administrator. Carol brings a wealth of arts administration experience and much enthusiasm.

We also welcome Prize-winning author Scott-Patrick Mitchell as writer in residence, who will be our guest at Friday@Furphy’s, 13th March, so come along to hear of his latest endeavours.

Just a little more formal Committee business to keep you updated.

The Committee has appointed Machiel van der Stelt as the FAWWA Vice President for 2020 at the February committee meeting. Machiel has connections with the Dutch Club of WA and hopes to facilitate some collaboration between FAWWA and the Dutch Club in the genre of writing your life story. So, stay tuned to the website for what we can organise. Thank you for your enthusiasm Machiel, and welcome to the FAWWA committee.

The committee are yet to fill the important roles of Treasurer and Secretary. If you have some time to spare, have experience in these roles or are willing to learn, please consider joining the committee and becoming involved. The committee meets on the second Friday of every month, 3.30 – 4.30pm. The meeting precedes Friday@Furphy’s, so members can enjoy our monthly social occasion after the meeting.

Now that the academic year has started, FAWWA would like to welcome the students who have come forward to volunteer.

The Autumn busy bee is on Saturday April 4th, from 9am – 2pm. Please come down and help spruce up TCH and MFH ready for a great year.

Happy writing,

Yeeda Tohpam Acting President
