I loved this month's books! They were the perfect May reads. Did anybody else cry during One for the Murphys and Counting by 7s? I totally did. I also might have read The Penderwicks twice, hee-hee! This was also such a fun party to throw. You don't need fancy decor, just lots of good food and outdoor summer-y activities! |

Rosalind might faint at the idea of switching up the classic chocolate chip cookie recipe, but I'm sure even she would agree these peanut butter chippers are delicious! With delectable peanut butter notes and melty milk chocolate chips, they're much better than the cookies Skye made. I'm sure Hound would even snitch a few!

I absolutely drooled when Churchie invited the girls over for gingerbread. A hot steaming piece of gingerbread with whipped cream and strawberries? Mmmm. This gingerbread was just as good as the book's description, light yet filling with a mouth-watering cinnamon ginger taste.

For a party during the first week of summer, we needed a drink that was light, fruity, and reminded us of sunshine. This watermelon slush did just that! Watermelon, ice, and lime shouldn't be this good. This five-minute healthy, sweet drink is perfect for a party!

Of course I had to include the world-famous Penderwick brownies! (Let's be honest: that book just has the best food.) Rosalind always makes hers homemade, but I'm a firm believer that the best brownies in the world are . . . Ghirardelli box mixes! I know, I know, they're not homemade, but seriously delicious. Is it possible to become addicted to brownie batter? I totally am.

For a fun twist on a classic game, try pineapple bowling! Just line up pineapples and hit with a bowling ball for a light-hearted competition. Bonus points if you spray paint pineapples and the bowling ball gold for even cooler photos! |

Everybody loves a good ol' water balloon fight, but filling up the balloons can be time-consuming and the colorful scraps don't make your yard look wonderful. Try sponge water bombs for easier cleanup and double the soaked fun! |

Take a page from Skye and Jane's book and break out a family game of soccer. Have a friendly competition between two teams or check out this list of fresh games.
