About three years ago, long before OCN had 3 million followers and subscribers on social media, we received a life-changing email. Alan, an editor for the South African surfing magazine ZigZag, had connected with Naude through surfing and had published a very well-received story about Naude's seal rescue missions. Alan and his co-editor Will wanted to bring the OCN story to a bigger audience. The idea for Cutting The Line was born.

In the past three years, Will and Alan have visited us in Namibia many times. They lived with us, rescued seals with the team, showed us how to make the best wraps, and became part of the OCN family. We are not generally big fans of film crews on seal patrol, but Will and Alan made it easy to work with them. They share our passion for animals and our desire to create a better planet for ourselves and our children. Cutting The Line has been in the making for a very long time, but it was worth the wait. None of us knew how much work and sometimes tears would be involved. Will and Alan captured the essence of OCN beautifully and we could not have asked for a better production company. We are incredibly proud of and grateful that the movie is ready for the world.

On World Oceans Day, 08 June 2023, Cutting The Line will have a limited release online. The film will be available on Vimeo for the price of US4.99.

Profits will be shared between the non-profit organization Plastic Oceans International, which has been funding most of the film so far, and OCN.

Unfortunately we cannot show Cutting The Line without charging a fee as it would disqualify the movie from being shown at big international film festivals, and we hope to catch major networks' attention. If the movie is available for free, networks will not be interested anymore. We will have a lottery to give out 300 free tickets, including 100 tickets for schools and teachers. We will also do a live session on Youtube on the weekend of the release to discuss the film, details will be shared at a later stage.
