Summer is around the corner!

June Newsletter, 2022

Summer is around the corner!  We are all looking forward to those warm evenings eating outside and visiting with friends - enjoying all that summer brings.

We have a few things to catch you up on in this newsletter.  As mentioned in our last newsletter, we have lots to share about our Mexico journey this past February and March.  There were so many interesting and inspiring aspects of the trip, and so many photographs to share that we are breaking them down into sections of interest.

First up - The Textile Museum of Oaxaca

Textile Museum of Oaxaca

The Textile Museum of Oaxaca was first on my (Paula's) list to visit in the city of Oaxaca. Those of you who know me, know that I LOVE textiles. One of the reasons, I planned to spend most of my time in this city was because of the arts and culture, especially the tradition of textiles.  Oaxaca is also a World Heritage United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) site.

The Museum is located in the heart of the historic center of the city, in an 18th-century mansion restored in 2007.  It is both a museum and educational center dedicated to textiles. They have received donations of six large, private collections, each consisting of several hundred pieces. The overall collection consists of mainly Mexican and Central American textiles.  The exhibits are amazing and an incredible way to see this beautiful textile tradition.

Here are some photos of the "Affection for Oaxaca" exhibit I had the chance to see.
