Another Letter from Dave
Hey Everyone,
I come to you with a new newsletter for a new year. What more could you want?
“Uh actually Dave, there’s some things on my Christmas list I didn’t get, so . . .”
I can’t help you with that. But I can let you know that College Basketball Times has now published over 25 cover stories, including:
I should note that both Sam and Patrick are currently college students. As part of our non-profit mission we offer internships at schools such as Boston College, Florida, Rider, Springfield College, and Maryland.
It looks like we may be adding Ohio State, South Carolina and even my alma mater, St. Bonaventure University. Come on, all together now: Go Bonnies! Go Bonnies!
In addition to features, our writers have been occasionally submitting rankings for the six categories we cover equally: D1, D2, D3, NAIA, Juco and Wheelchair. We hope to do this regularly as there isn't much currently available for many categories and what does exist isn’t always great. I mean, this week’s AP Top-25 has snubbed the most dominant force in college hoops: Omicron.
“That’s kind of funny, Dave.”
Yes, that was the goal. Though not “kind of.”
I feel compelled to mention that we continue to cover women and men equally, as well.
“Uh Dave, is that really a compulsion or more of a hope that someone will think that’s worthy of a donation to College Basketball Times?”
We can always use more hope - it’s keeping us alive.
“Gee Dave that sounds like a hint.”
Oh no. Definitely not.
“I believe you. A hint would be much more subtle.”
Though I guess the big news is it looks like we may get a little press.
“Hold on Dave. Don’t you create press? How do you get press for your press?"
See we made a bit of a historical find. We discovered that ESPN, Sports Illustrated, the New York Times and many others are incorrect as to which teams played the first intercollegiate game. And it appears there may be some press from the article I crafted.

“Whoa. Crafted!? You’re really going to go with 'crafted' to describe the spew you produce?”
Well, as opposed to the general consensus, the first game may have been between Drexel and Temple. So, we got the story to a plethora of folks at both schools in preparation for their game on December 18th. We even got it to the announcers. Then an hour before tip off it happened - the game got cancelled.
“Now that’s funny, Dave.”
Yeah, that wasn’t the goal.
But we also got it to Andy Katz at NCAA .com and he may be up for coming on our CBT video show with Zane Bianchi to discuss. We also heard back from The History Channel who is looking into this. Even the Boston Podcast Network had me on to detail the findings:

"Seems like the History Channel thing is a bigger deal, Dave.”
Maybe that’s true.
And maybe there'll be more press.
And maybe that will lead to more donations
And maybe just maybe we will not have to survive on hope.
"I hope so too, Dave."
Thanks, though I think you are missing my point.
That’s all for now.
Sincerely,
Dave Barend - Grand Poobah
