In partnership with the Pacific Beach Continuation High School FARM Class', our Inaugural Farm Box Delivery took place on October 3, 2019. Under the direction of Guest Entrepreneurship Teacher, Jen Dudley and Board Member Kayla Rutland, and with the support of grants from the Sprouts Foundation and Pacific Premier Bank, this program allows students to learn about post-harvest processing, packaging and marketing their agricultural products. |

It also provides the opportunity to design, establish and run a small pop-up business within one marking period, covering key business concepts. In the first box, students packed a diverse selection of veggies and herbs that they and City Farm subtenants Javier Magana, Corey Richmond, and Tree Lees grew. Students designed and produced flyers, boxes and labels.

20 pre-ordered boxes were delivered to happy customers at the PBHS campus.
The Farm Box program will continue throughout this academic year, with one box distribution for each marking period. The Holiday Box will be ready in time for the holidays, with delivery sometime early to mid December. To reserve your box in the next round, visit this pre-order page. 15 Cal Poly Week of Welcome first-year student volunteers devoted a Saturday morning to spreading wood chips around our Solar Array and prospective entry-orchard area. |
