October's Dose of Inspiration |
|
|
The month of October is inherently beautiful. Trees are aflame with color, crops are ripe and bountiful, and we come together for joyful community celebrations. Such external beauty mirrors our internal richness as we harvest the fruits of our inner work. This allows us to let be and let go, reminding us to be with things as they are. Offer thanks to yourself for your efforts and insights at this time. What a relief to simply let be and accept where we are now and where we are not. |

Morning Intention Every morning, stand in front of your mirror and set your intention for the day. The following questions can help you shape your intention. You can be as specific as you want. Who do I want to be today? How do I want to feel today? What do I want to give/receive today? Practice that daily and see what happens. This is one of my favorite practices to set myself up for my day. |

"When The Body Says No" by Dr Gabor Maté. This book provides the answers to critical questions about the mind-body link and the role that stress and our emotional makeup play in an array of common diseases. The author explores the role of the mind-body link in conditions and diseases such as arthritis, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, irritable bowel syndrome and multiple sclerosis and shares dozens of enlightening case studies and stories, including those of people such as Lou Gehrig (ALS), Betty Ford (breast cancer), Ronald Reagan (Alzheimer’s), Gilda Radner (ovarian cancer) and Lance Armstrong (testicular cancer). He also reveals ‘The Seven A’s of Healing’: principles in healing and the prevention of illness from hidden stress. What happens in our mind and how we handle our emotions, affects our body and physical health. Once we understand this connection, we have the power to heal ourselvess. |

In this episode, Steven Bartlett sits with Dr. John Gottman and Dr. Julie Schwartz Gottman. They have revolutionized the study of marriage and relationships. For five decades they have conducted research on all facets of relationships, including parenting issues. At their Institute, they developed an approach that not only supports and repairs troubled marriages and committed relationships but also strengthens happy ones. It's an insightful conversation with many aha moments; how self-esteem makes us very attractive, why men struggle with emotions, why insecure people are more defensive, and how to build self confidence. |
