OTT JONES SCULPTURE

 FALL Newsletter 2023

Hello from Montana! I hope you are enjoying the last week of summer and looking forward to fall. Our summer began with the arrival of our new grandson, Winston, in early June. He'll be a fly fisherman no doubt with that name! Joan and I spent a fair amount of time at our cottage in Sandpoint, Idaho and exploring some great places in Montana.

I've been busy in the studio creating new pieces and preparing for upcoming shows.

My current project is Henry Rono (pictured below) who was a world-class long-distance runner at Washington State University. I am honored to have been commissioned by WSU to place this monument at my alma mater in spring of 2024!

I am also honored to be elected membership into the National Sculpture Society

and to be affiliated with such a prestigious organization.

Thank you for your continued support and patronage. I am grateful for this and to have my work in your collections! I hope to see you at one of my upcoming events.

RISING TROUT CATCH-ALL

This functional sculpture can be used for multiple purposes including a jewelry holder/necklace hanger, catch-all for desk items, and ashtray.

A custom patina is available to capture the likeness of your favorite trout—rainbow, brown, brook, or cutthroat.

HENRY RONO (clay still in progress)

Attending WSU, Henry Rono is one of the most prolific collegiate runners in history.

In 1978, over a span of 81 days, he broke four world records - 10,000, 5000, 3000 meter races and the 3000 meter steeplechase. Rono also won the collegiate 10,000 meter cross country championship three times and still holds the NCAA record.

Pictured with me is John Chaplin, legendary WSU head coach and head coach of the 2000 USA men's Olympic track & field team. Coach Chaplin has been an invaluable part of this project and I am grateful for his support and help.
