Our second newsletter. Since our last note, learning has continued at pace! Busy getting our heads around selling our wine. Good fun. Meeting some excellent, passionate & generous people. Some cool announcements we look forward to sharing. Along the way, some fascinating insights into wine retailers' worlds. Favourite insight so far? "Our rosé buyers pull up in late model Mercedes convertibles and will countenance only French labels. But your rosé is very nice". Yes that was in Auckland! Onwards. Busy year ahead, as always. More vines to look after this season. We're particularly excited to be adding Chardonnay to the Home Fields lineup, completing the Burgundy theme! If we survive the workload & remain solvent, can't wait to present the resulting wines. Very grateful to those of you who have signed up to our email list &/or dallied around on our instawhatsit. And we are indebted to those who've taken the extra step & bought our wine! It is an unnatural thrill to hear the phone "ding" indicating a new sale. Please, feel free to thrill us! |

As to field work ... pruning. A lot of pruning. As of 26 Aug, 4 vineyards completed. Two to go before budbreak in early September. Pressure on. Thank the Lord - & more specifically Dylan, Coire, Blair & Claire - we are ripping through the work. A mammoth relief to have brilliant local crew with us this year. And grateful to have their company too. Out in all weather including early morning 0 degree starts - brilliant people, great attitudes. It has certainly been a cold late winter. Ominous for frost season!! But the conditions have provided some handsome backdrops like this ... |

Home Fields 2021 Pinot Noir Our very first wine, the 2021 Pinot Noir, seems to be making an impression. Feedback is that this is good wine. Waiting for independent reviews to chime-in but we've been told that quality-wise, it's a $70 a bottle wine! We're selling it for $56, ($39.20 with your Founders discount code)! We're rather pleased to have this wine on the shelf at Cahn's Wines and Spirits, a beautiful, characterful shop with a thoughtfully curated selection of wines and spirits on O'Connell Street, downtown Auckland. Shoot in & say how now to Tristan! |

Home Fields back home in Akld Lovely to catch up with Auckland friends & family at our "little local launch" at Mt Albert Bowling Club in July. We decamped Akld for the Wairarapa amidst Covid chaos, consequently we were unable to properly say goodbye to people we care about & miss. It was immensely cool to have people along & share our wine - & amazing pizza from @prestos Go MA Bowls too! Apparently Thurs happy hour is quite fun. Next trip, for sure! |

Home Fields 2023 "Moss Oaks" Rosé Rather excited about the feedback we've been receiving for the Home Fields 2023 "Moss Oaks" Rosé. "Love the rosé. Dry, fresh and acidic, a very, very good wine. Bright, flavoursome and sessionable. Will be my rosé of summer." "Your two rosé varieties are the best that I have sampled thus far (in my admittedly limited tasting career). The 2023 'Moss Oaks' wine was the 'winner' for me, rich and flavourful." oh phew! Hard to grow & make this season. Beyond pleased that is hitting its mark. |
