Light the World Kick-Off Event |
Women of the World is honored to be a Light the World recipient this year sponsored by Latter-Day Saints Charities. The Giving Machines are vending machines with a twist and are meant to urge people to consider those who may need their light during the Christmas season. Members of the community have the chance to go donate items to local and international non-profit organizations. During the kick-off, Samira was able to unveil one of these machines and represent WoW. We also had the chance to meet Adassa, an Emmy-Winner singer, who performed and supported the event. WoW has five items you can purchase in the machines this year. They are located at City Creek Mall in downtown Salt Lake City. We encourage you to go with your families to donate to our cause, every dollar counts! The machines can be found at: City Creek Center 50 S Main St Salt Lake City, Utah |

Financial Literacy Workshops |
This month WoW hosted three financial literacy workshops for our clients. We were lucky to partner with Cyprus Credit Union who prepared these classes and presentations for our team. A strong foundation of financial literacy can help support various life goals, such as saving for education or retirement, using debt responsibly, and running a business. These are all skills we hope to encourage in our clients so they can become self-reliant! We are always looking for workshop ideas and presentations. If you have a skill you would like to share please email our Workshop Manager, ghinwa@womenofworld.org. |

Through Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy, we were lucky to host a team of Romanian Philanthropists in our WoW office. This team of women all run or work at non-profits throughout Romania and they traveled to the United States to examine the theme of NGO Fundraising and Development to aid Romania's efforts in welcoming and supporting Ukrainian refugees. They were interested in meeting with Women of the World to learn how our organization provides support and mentoring to help refugee women integrate into the community and succeed in Salt Lake City. We loved our discussion with them and learning about their incredible work in their country and we are grateful for our new international connections! |

This month members of the WoW staff attended the SheMoney launch event at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art which highlighted various Women Business Owners in the Utah community. ShePlace celebrates the unique and inherent power in every self-identified woman and is working to create a Utah-based network and digital platform for women+ from diverse industries & backgrounds. The new SheMoney initiative is a financial newsletter with a gendered lens. We hope to continue to build a relationship with ShePlace and loved the opportunity to network with many incredible women! |
