I have recently received a couple of questions about my storage shed, so I am resending this news letter from February 2017...

Dear Owners & Residents,

Have you ever needed additional storage?  Have you considered installing a storage shed in the garage?  Are you aware that the Body Corporate for Tank Tower has specific requirements for storage sheds in the garage?

For some years I have considered my need for additional storage, and recently I have undertaken the process of having a storage shed installed in my carpark.  I would like to share my experience with others so that you know how this process works.

Firstly, I reviewed the By-Laws to understand the constraints.  The By-Laws are available on TankTower.com.au website on the Resources page and I have provided an extract here...

32.2 An owner of a Lot may, with the written consent of the Body Corporate, erect a storage shed in the car park belonging to that Lot.  The owner must provide the Body Corporate with details of the material to be used by the owner and all work must be carried out in a good and tradesmanlike manner and be consistent with existing storage sheds in other carparks.

Secondly, I needed to obtain written consent of the Body Corporate, and that required an owners motion at the AGM.  I submitted the owners motion at the 2016 AGM and it was approved.

Thirdly, I needed to find a company that was able to construct a storage shed similar to the existing storage sheds.  This was actually quite difficult, because while there are many companies that manufacture cheap sheds, not many create sheds with a roller door and in the colourbond "Windspray".  I also wanted to make maximum use of the space, and as there was existing pipework running through my carpark, a custom shed was the best option.  Thankfully, following much research on the Internet, I came across Star Lockers & Sheds.  

Fourthly, I confirmed the colour and style with the committee and received approval to move ahead.  Gareth Jones provided excellent service from the first site visit right through to completion of the shed.
