It may be getting redundant to say how busy our month was, but it's true! Natalie gallivanted with her parents in Portugal, attended a week-long workplace conference, finalized her book cover and set-up its promo plan. Max pushed through the spring semester with his law students, prepared final exams, fit in time for some social activities, and even listened to Taylor's new album (with Natalie). What will May bring?! Best viewed on your Desktop. |

FIRST LOOK: GHOST TRAIN cover revealed! Here is a first look at the cover art for GHOST TRAIN. The train art is by Kobayashi Kiyochi, a woodblock painter from the Meiji Era. His locomotive, beneath a shrouded moon, depicts the emergence of Westernization in Japan during the era in which GHOST TRAIN is set. The three decorative designs are real kimono prints, alluding to the work and world into which the main character, Maru, is thrust.
Jake Adelstein's endorsement is the cherry on top to the beautiful, retro, historical cover that we are thrilled with. Take a look for yourself! |

Max & Nat's Nit-Picks: Each Newsletter, we will feature a commonly misused word or expression and share its appropriate use. These words and expressions are inspired by real-life encounters we have had and that haunt us.
"I just wanted to make waffles, but my toaster wire was frayed and electrocuted me." If the speaker was actually electrocuted, they wouldn't be alive to share the story. 'Electrocuted' is a portmanteau, which combines the words "electric" and "executed" together. It is execution by electricity. Nobody should survive electrocution, but they can survive getting shocked (by electricity). "I got shocked when I plugged in a faulty toaster wire, but I was still able to enjoy my waffles." Disclaimer: Please excuse any typos, misspellings, or grammatical errors; we understand that we avail ourselves to Muphry's Law when we nit-pick. |
