We have many updates and lots of environmental and civic opportunities for youth engagement to share with you this month. We also want to highlight a recap of our successful 2022 summit, held last weekend on September 24th! The summit was a blast and we thank all of you who attended, and for those who missed it, we hope we can provide a glimpse into the event here! 🧡

Successful Bay Area Youth Climate Summit Recap

Last Saturday (9/24), our 3rd Annual Summit was held at the World Affairs building in San Francisco bringing together presenters from diverse fields of study and over 70 youth for a fun day of climate activism and learning. The summit included educational workshops, community-building activites, letter writing, phone banking, mural, and button making. For those of you that were able to attend, thank you so much and we hope you had a great time! We were so happy to see returning faces as well as new ones—and can't wait to see you again next year. Within the next week, we will release some photos, video footage, and more updates to celebrate, so keep updated on our Instagram and website for these!

Recap of Mural Making at the Summit 🎨

The Summit included a variety of lunch activities, one of the more popular ones was the mural creation. Students of varying ages, high schools, and backgrounds came together to celebrate their interests and passions for environmental justice and activism in our Bay Area and global community. The mural served as a great creative outlet to connect through, as attendees collaborated and had fun together!

Come join us to volunteer at the REAP Center on October 9th, 10am - 1pm. You will have the opportunity to shape paths, build soil, and define planting areas. It will be a fun opportunity to connect with fellow climate-minded youth, get volunteer hours, and spend time with nature! Please wear casual clothes that can get dirty and bring a water bottle and snacks! Register at the link below!

Teen Volunteer Applications are Open at the Marine Mammal Center!

Are you a teen aged 15-18? Are you interested in marine life and conservation? There’s an opportunity for you to be a part of the Youth Crew which gets approximately 120 hours of community service and training in animal care. This is a great chance to gain exposure in the marine biology field or just to be around rehabilitating animals. The application is due November 1. Check out the link below to apply or learn more!

District 7 Youth Council Member Application for 2022-2023 Open Now!

D7YC is made up of high school students residing in San Francisco’s District 7. As a member, you will learn about issues affecting residents of D7 and participate in outreach with the district's Youth Commissioner. You will plan and create projects to address problems, draft proposed legislation, and review legislation that intersects directly with youth concerns.
