New entrant opportunity
Update from a CSA set up in our previous round of support:
Lower Hampen Farm CSA veggie box project ‘The Three Turnips’ is on course to open for business in June. Subscribers will enjoy a broad range of vegetables, herbs and cut flowers as well as access to homegrown grass fed PFL-certified lamb and wool products from the farms pedigree flock of rare breed sheep.
We would like to add eggs, milk and charcoal/biochar to the scheme so any young entrepreneurs wishing to start up a mobile free range poultry enterprise, a micro dairy or a charcoal making business, please get in touch.
Heritage wheat will be available following harvest. Local artisan bread makers please contact us to sample the amazing flour.
GREAT partner RuRALink is preparing to launch a new training programme for regenerative agriculture advisors, mentors and facilitators.
The training will be accredited by BASIS, and will give participants a broad set of non-technical skills in the interpersonal elements of these roles, tailored to application in regenerative agriculture. Three series of training dates are already available for sign-up on our Events page.
RuRALink has been working hard behind the scenes to set up the GREAT Mentor scheme and are pleased to announce that we are approaching the launch.
The first of our GREAT Mentors will be matched with mentees shortly after Easter and we intend the grow the scheme, including offering training and a range of support to both mentors and mentees as the summer progresses.
What is a weed? What if these plants are telling us something about our soil, or perhaps even our management decisions on farms? What if instead of viewing these plants as weeds, we began to think of them as Bioindicators?
Land Skills Fair 2022 open for booking: Over the weekend, expect an awesome medley of workshops, talks, activities, music and of course delicious food and drink. The Ecological Land Cooperative are looking to buy land to create clusters of smallholdings for new entrants to agroecological farming.
Their ideal site would be between 5 and 40 acres of flat, cultivable land with road access.
They are particularly interested in talking to you if you are a private land-owner and wish to sell or donate land to become regenerative farms.
