Vince Klein Memorial 5k Update

We’re gearing up to make the Vince Klein Run Like a Superhero Memorial 5K bigger and better than ever! To give it the attention it truly deserves, we’ve decided to supercharge the event by postponing it until 2025! This gives us extra time to plan even more fun, surprises, and ways to honor Vince Klein’s incredible legacy. Trust us – it’ll be worth the wait! Mark your calendars for 2025, because it’s going to be EPIC! Stay tuned for updates, and get ready to lace up those superhero shoes next year! Thanks for your support, and we can’t wait to see you all in 2025!

Our Vans Have Arrived!

Thanks to a generous grant of $140,000 from the women at Impact 100 Southern Indiana, we were able to purchase two brand-new 2024 Ford 15 Passenger vans for our shelter! After a very long wait, the vans officially arrived home to our shelter this month and we've already put them to great use! Each van is outfitted with Ford's state-of-the-art safety features, like a Safety Canopy Airbag System and a 360-degree View Backup Camera System, reinforcing our commitment to ensuring the utmost safety and well-being for our kids during their journeys.

This project wouldn't be possible without the Impact 100 Southern Indiana grant from the Women's Foundation of Southern Indiana.

Indiana Youth Institute Award Update

In July, we were 1 of 84 youth-serving organizations in Indiana to receive a $10,000 grant to improve our staff room from Indiana Youth Institute. This month we began to make it a more trauma-informed space for our amazing youth workers who work around the clock to take care of our kids' needs by upgrading our existing cabinets and counters and adding additional storage to the room. Thank you to Indiana Youth Institute for their support and stay tuned to see the final results!

Service Spotlight

This month, we wanted to shine a spotlight on our Substance Abuse Program: The Seven Challenges. The Seven Challenges is a counseling program designed for teenagers struggling with substance abuse. It has been recognized by SAMHSA's National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices. This program is particularly effective for young people involved in the juvenile justice system and has been widely implemented in communities and secure facilities throughout the country. Unlike traditional approaches that simply tell young people what to do, the Seven Challenges takes a different approach. It provides a decision-making framework that empowers teenagers to make informed choices about their lives and drug use. Instead of dictating their behavior, the program helps them explore their options and make decisions that align with their goals and values.
