January 2024

NEWSLETTER

Welcome to the first newsletter of 2024. A very Happy New Year to all of you. We hope you are having a lovely Christmas.

Thank you very much to all the parents and teachers who came to support our Students' Christmas Concert back in December. Many congratulations to everyone who played; it was wonderful to hear everyone's performances. Thanks also to Serena Sheane for setting up the colouring station. There are some budding artists in our midst!

The next local Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exams will take place between 26th February and 28th March. Booking is open from 18th to 30th January. There will be an earlier exam session at London Wall Place (near Moorgate) between 5th and 18th February. Booking is open from 4th to 9th January. The best way to book is to email us as soon as possible a list of exam dates in order of preference (the more the better). We will book when booking opens. It is not possible to choose a specific time, only dates. For more information click here.

Lastly, thank you Aadit for writing this month's Composer of the Month column on a man as famous in film as he is in the concert hall: Ludovico Einaudi.

Priory Gardens Childrens choir

We are hoping to start our weekly students' choir at the beautiful Orpington Priory very soon. If you have not already, please email us to register your interest for your child to sing in our choir; there is no commitment at this stage. Singing in a choir is an excellent way to develop so many skills, such as sight-reading,

aural and public performance. When singing with others, children develop their articulation, posture and general confidence in a fun and stimulating activity.

COMPOSER OF THE MONTH

Ludovico Einaudi

Einaudi was born in 1955 November 23rd. He is now 67 years old. He was also the grandchild of the president of Italy. He was introduced to music very early on where he started to write old folk music. Then in 1982 he achieved a diploma in composition. Now he is most famous for making the music for television programmes and films etc. on the piano.
