the weekly Round-Up

Dear Round-Up Readers,

Feels like I say this a lot, but WHAT A WEEK!  Seriously,  this week started with an inspiring conversation about "allyship" at the Independent Hotel Show in London with Chris King of Lightning Travel Recruitment, Gavin Couper, Hotel Manager, One Aldwych, and Alessandra Alonso, of Women in Travel CIC, it was an honor to moderate this panel. There were lots of takeaways, but Chris summed it up well on LinkedIn:

💡It is important to recognize our own privilege in order to truly be an ally to others.
🌸 Be sure to involve people from minority groups in conversations surrounding them - no one voice should speak for everyone.
🧡 If your intentions are pure, then it's okay to f*ck up sometimes. So long as you commit to being better, with tangible actions.
🏳️‍🌈 Language MATTERS.

Education and effort go a long way toward creating an inclusive culture, and nobody gets it right immediately. So, let's keep these conversations going to help make true inclusivity a reality for hospitality!

Then it was Yom Kippur, a time for reflection in Jewish culture, and as I look around at the state of the world, it is hard not to be saddened and anxious about so many current events. But, if there is one teaching that Jewish people cling to since the beginning of time, it is the importance of optimism.

Finally, yesterday was my birthday, we had a party and I'm tired! But also excited because the NY Giants are playing in London and I am off to watch the game today. So let's get to the news of the week...
