IS YOUR CHILD READY FOR SCHOOL?

In Nebraska, children can’t attend classes in public or private school until the school has written proof of their immunization status.

To attend school, children in Nebraska are required to be immunized against the following diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis; polio; measles, mumps, and rubella; hepatitis B and varicella (chicken pox).
Children entering Kindergarten and 7th grade will need shots before attending school this Fall.

Nebraska Requirements

A NEW SHINGLES VACCINATION!

Recently a new shingles vaccination has been approved by the FDA, Shingrix. Healthy adults 50 years and older should get two doses of Shingrix, separated by 2 to 6 months. You should get Shingrix even if in the past you had shingles, received Zostavax or are not sure if you had chickenpox.
This vaccine is currently on backorder. If you would like placed on a list to be notified when Loup Basin Public Health Department has more doses, please email Amanda by clicking on this link:

Reserve your dose of shingles!

PROTECT INFANTS AGAINST PERTUSSIS

In the last two years, Nebraska has had between 100-150 cases of pertussis (whooping cough).
To protect newborns from pertussis, the CDC recommends the following receive a Tdap (pertussis containing) vaccination:

-Pregnant women, ideally between 27-36 weeks
-adolescents 11 or older and adults who have not previously received a Tdap vaccination
If you are unsure of your immunization status, the best protection for the newborn would be to get immunized!
