Courage Club Corner

Members of our Courage Club and their families joined us at The Riverdogs Game on June 1st. It was a fun Friday night complete with fireworks after the game. Thanks to our friends at The Charleston Riverdogs for donating tickets!

July Event: Happy Hour!

Join us down at Two Blokes Brewing for a Monday evening Happy Hour July 2nd from 5pm-7pm. We'll have drink tickets for our survivors, but invite caregivers, friends, family, and supporters to join us for the fun too! Two Blokes will not have a food truck that evening, so they invite you to bring your own food in, or stop by for a drink before dinner. See you then!

Metathriver Group

New this month, we hosted a Metathriver gathering. Our metathriver group is a subgroup of the Courage Club and is geared towards supporting Stage IV/Chronic young adult cancer patients. The group met for dinner at Mellow Mushroom this month, and looks forward to quarterly outings to connect throughout the year.

Boon Bags

Part of our mission to reach patients as soon as possible after diagnosis involves having Boon Bags (care packages with cancer fighting resources) available for distribution in area oncology practices and infusion centers. Our board built 50 bags during our retreat and many have already been distributed to area clinics.

  Each Boon Bag includes:

-A folder of resources on local and national programs to assist young adults fighting cancer (and their families).

-A binder of reproducible printables to help patients get organized for their fight.

-A Cancer Fighting Kitchen Cookbook to help patients fight back with diet.

-A Boon Project water bottle to stay hydrated during treatment.

If you work in oncology and would like to speak with us about getting this program at your practice, please contact us at Katherine@boonproject.org or (843) 754-1879.

Financial Assistance Grants

We launched a new program in February which provides young adults fighting cancer with the opportunity for financial assistance. Applications are available on our website or by clicking here. Thank you to our generous donors who have allowed us to expand our programs to better serve this community!
