SUMMERTIME AND THE LIVING IS HEALTHY! |

School is out and so is the regular routine. Here are a few tips to navigate the summer without giving up your healthy lifestyle! |
Stay Hydrated Drinking water is important for your healthy lifestyle all year long. Keep a bottle with you at all times and make sure you're drinking at least half your body weight in ounces per day, more if you're active, which hopefully you are! | | |
Road Trip! Whether you're traveling by plane, train or automobile this summer, take along some healthy snacks...nuts, nut butter packets, whole grain crackers, fruit, and (if you can bring a cooler along) yogurt, hummus & guacamole...all great, healthy, satisfying options to keep you on track. |
Sweat it Out! Staycation or vacation, make sure you're getting your sweat on. Bike rides, hiking, walking and swimming are all great ways to enjoy the weather, keep moving and spend quality time with the family. If you travel, try to incorporate some more active ways to see the sights. Make sure your hotel has a gym or pool so you can get some exercise into your day. Even 20-30 minutes per day can make a difference! |
Drink Wisely! Summer drinks tend to be sweet and fruity. Make sure your fruity drinks have REAL fruit and not fruit juices, which are mostly sugar. Muddle it, squeeze it, cut it up and drop it into your favorite seltzer, vodka, rum or tequilla for a refreshing, low-sugar mix. |
Get Back on the Wagon! If you fall off track with your eating, get right back on. Don't let one slip-up turn into a weekend, week, month or entire summer of unhealthy. Of course you can indulge now and then but make it a conscious decision then put it behind you and move back into your healthy lifestyle! |
Indulge! Summer produce is a bounty of healthy and delicious fruits and vegetables. Choose to indulge in the best of what nature offers this season and make them a part of your every day diet. |
Bottom Line... A new schedule for the summer can challenge your healthy lifestyle. Following these tips can help keep you on track. Stay focused on your goals and enjoy the journey and the summer! |
