Throwing out the Rule Book on Colour Commercial Textiles, Proudly Australian Designed and Manufactured |
When picking colours for interior spaces it is very easy to fall back onto safe, tried and tested colours. However, it is important to keep your mind open, be inspired by new product and new colour combos - as risky as it may feel. Sometimes you might get a client who wants to push the boundaries and sometimes you might need to nudge them a little. We say go for it! At Sustainable Living Fabrics, we love colour and how colour can be interpreted so many different ways. We are always impressed by designers who want to do something a bit different and utilise our vast range of colour. It is our aim to supply designers with as many alternative colours as we can. We spend a lot of time colour forecasting and developing colours into fit into our vision of the commercial interiors. In this newsletter we wanted to show you a couple of projects that threw the rule book out and went with some alternative, fun and inspiring colour combos. |

| | Designers Donaldson + Warn cleverly used a variety of colours in the Ashdale Secondary College break out spaces. They layered colour and texture to zone spaces within the school. Using colour for zoning in facility type environments is not new however the use of analogous colours adds a level of interest and cohesion. For more images click the link below. | | |
| | Donaldson + Warn have used a combo of colours Sustainable Superthor Ariadne, Sustainable Cord Thrush and Bluebird, Sustainable Ecostyle Frost, and Sustainable Pebbles Sharp to create the zoned space. These colours can be found in your colour chipbox in the blues and blue greens section. For larger sample to use in your project please contact your rep. | | |

| | We love how schools are starting to turn away from traditional reds and blues and replacing them with more modern hues. Macarthur Anglican School, along with Civic Australia have knocked this one out of the park with the use of our Sustainable Tekneko fabric. Their new library space is inspiring. | | |
| | Sustainable Tekneko is an Australian wool and poly blend, is reversible and comes in 12 fun tertiary colours – no standard red, blues or blacks here! If you have been looking for a unique combo of deep purple and fuchsia, watermelon and red or deep teal and aqua you have finally found the right range! | | |
| | What a very bold statement by Gardner Wetherill & Associates for UTS. This combo of yellow and charcoal is quite unusual as yellow tends to be associated with high energy, enthusiasm, and cheerfulness whereas charcoals and dark greys are more conservative, sophisticated and masculine. The flowing curves seem to soften the dramatic contrast of the two colours. | | |
| | Sustainable Ecostyle and Sustainable Reunion are two very different ranges not only in colour palettes but also in composition and texture. Sustainable Ecostyle is woven using a boucle yarn to give it its bubbly texture, whereas Sustainable Reunion is woven using a marled yarn to give it a natural wool look. Both GECA certified and Australian made using Australian wool. | | |

| | MCDF Architects have used a combination of complementary and analogous colours in their design for PLC Secondary School. Again they have gone with colours which are a little off beat, teals and berries, rather than standard reds and blues. With modern architectural designs, Interior Designers need to up their game and use different colours schemes to bring the upholstery up to the same level. Using tertiary colours is the best way to achieve a new look. | | |
| | The designers have drawn colour inspiration from the very versatile Sustainable Texture Chorus, which combines teal, berry, blue and gold yarns to create its pattern. They have paired it back with Sustainable Cord Rosella, Peacock, and Thrush all of which are GECA certified and Australian made using Australian Wool. They have also thrown a bit of Sustainable Superthor Zelos into the mix just too really add a punch of colour. For larger samples for your project please contact your rep. | | |
