Hey! I hope you're well, or at least as well as you can be! I hope to share something of myself each month, to hopefully give you a better idea of who I am - nothing too revealing though, don't panic! But first... This month's featured giveaway is a double! Get your hands on FREE post-apocalyptic fiction, or (and) some FREE Urban Fantasy. If you click the images above, you'll be taken to the giveaway page where you can pick which books you would like to get your hands on. This is not a competition, so if you want a book, it's yours! The Urban Fantasy is good for this week only, so act fast. The post-apoc giveaway does say it has ended, but I've just picked up a book (28th June), and most of the books are still available so you will hopefully get what you're after. Now that's out of the way, let's get introduced: 'Ey up mi duck!' - I'm Steve (did I say that?). I live in Nottingham, in the UK, so if the above means anything to you, let me know (for those not in the know, that is 'hello' in Nottingham). I write mainly horror and other forms of dark fiction, including weird fiction, a genre popularised by HP Lovecraft in the late nineteenth, early twentieth century, but it does appear to be enjoying a bit of a revival recently.
- I'm married with two children and fit my writing around my paying work as a volunteer coordinator for a disability charity, which is something close to my heart, as I am a wheelchair user myself. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis seventeen years ago (but who's counting, right?). It took me a few years to get out of the hole I had fallen in to (metaphorically), and writing has played a huge part in me getting out of that hole. Being able to connect with readers continues to be a big part of that recovery, so a big THANK YOU to all of you that have contacted me on any subject.
We'll leave it there for the introductions today, but I would love to hear from you if you are challenged in ANY way in your life. It doesn't have to be a disability, just something that is testing you right now. I'm no expert or therapist but it would be great to connect with you. Just hit REPLY and let me know, or reach me from my website. |

The Island The Island is now available for FREE on Kindle Unlimited, or just 99p for everyone else. A group of teenagers steal a boat and head out for a day of beer and cigarettes, but they discover the island they're heading for is already inhabited and has been for a long time... An early reviewer said: "(The book) inserts (characters) in unreal situations and then cranks up the tension and dread factor." |

Back in March, I wrote a 10k word short story for The Chapterbuzz 10k Challenge called Jungle (working title). It's the story of 2 children that find a book that allows them to experience the Rain Forest from their own bedroom. The idea was to write 10K words, not necessarily to a finished state. Jungle is not finished and has had one pass of editing. At the beginning of April, it hit the number 1 position in the top 20 ChapterBuzz charts, where it stayed until last month, when it dropped to number 2. Boo. | | |

|
Help needed Once you've read Jungle, let me know what you think. It needs work, but let me know your initial thoughts, either by leaving a comment at the end of the story, or by replying to this email. I would also like help with finding a title for this story, so suggestions please! |
