Research Insights: In honor of national orgasm day on July 31: Does cannabis help women reach orgasm? Difficulty reaching orgasm occurs in 41% of women and there are no FDA approved medications for treatment. In a survey study of 410 respondents, women who used cannabis prior to partnered sex reported they had better orgasms, improved frequency of orgasms, less difficulty reaching orgasm and overall improved sexual satisfaction. This was especially true for the women with a history of sexual trauma and anxiety. The proposed mechanism of action is that cannabis lessens cognitive distraction or in other words reduces performance anxiety, difficulty staying in the present moment, and stress. However, the authors do recommend that more research is needed and randomized controlled studies should be conducted. | | |

"A few of our favorite things:" Trades of Hope Jean's pick: The company Trades of Hope was created after the founders learned about the atrocities women face around the world and in the U.S. They discovered that the lack of jobs for women forces mothers to give up their kids to orphanages, increase women’s risk of being trafficked, and keeps them in a cycle of poverty and social oppression. Trades of Hope creates an opportunity for women to self-support themselves by providing a platform to sell fair trades good and small business support. Anna was the one who first introduced me to this company, and I have since bought several items for myself and for gifts for friends and co-workers. Each item comes with a description of the artisan and the impact of your purchase. |
