Preparations are in high gear for the first South Sudanese Cultural Gala set to be held in Arua city.

The upcoming festival slated for Saturday, January 27, 2024, is expected to showcase diversity in culture including songs, dances and cuisines.

Esther Sitti, the chief executive officer and brains behind the gala says the idea is to promote trauma healing and foster unity between South Sudanese refugees in West Nile and their host communities.

According to the chairperson of the gala, Santos Lasuba, it will provide an opportunity for culture and idea sharing to strengthen the bond between the South Sudanese and host communities.

The speaker of the cultural gala, Dr Isaac Olwee, says the gala is significant for the revival of the nearly eroded culture of the communities in South Sudan and Uganda,

The young people are expected to benefit the most from the cultural gala, according to Tito Bolingo a South Sudanese living in Arua city.

To be held at Arua Primary School grounds, the cultural gala is expected to be graced by Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Senior Presidential Advisor in Charge of Special Operations.
