Happy Sunday!

Here is a quick snapshot of the Top Shelf items I obsessed over this week!

A favorite or new food or recipe crush, a book/quote/podcast, and last but not least, a song I cannot get out of my head. I am so excited to share them with you in the hope of bringing something new and inspiring into your day!

Where’s The Beef?

The “Where’s the beef?” Wendy’s campaign in 1984 was fun and memorable to most of us Gen Xers. I am pretty certain even the marketing team at Wendy’s was shocked at how quickly the phrase wove itself into 80s culture. For me, it also sealed the the fate of my family nickname. When I was born my nick-name giving Uncle Ronnie deemed me “Beefaroni.” My older cousins loved it and eventually started to shorten it to Beef. The Wendy’s tagline came along and the rest is history. To this day my brother still calls me Beef on the regular and I still roll my eyes when a nephew calls out “Where’s the beef???” But I love the affectionate inside joke and wouldn’t have it any other way.

What does this have to do with the skillet picture ed above? Nothing really, but I have spent the week obsessing over short ribs and decided to indulge that obsession this weekend. I can’t enter the butcher section of the grocery store without hearing “Where’s the Beef?” And the inevitable rush of family memories that flood my mind.

This beautiful fall weather has me craving comfort food dishes. I’d imagine I’m not alone, so I thought I’d share one of my favorites.

Moral Philosophy and Michael Schur Walk Into a Bar...

I accidentally found this book as I was huffing over a book automatically returned to Libby because another person was waiting on my copy at the end of my allotted time. I was in the last 20 pages or so of the book and it will not be available again for weeks. (I simply cannot.) Now... I couldn’t be happier for this irritating little mishap.

This book was a thought-provoking, informative, joy that has sparked several beautiful conversations over the passed week.

“Confronting our behavior may be painful and annoying, but it’s also a remedy for apathy, which is the enemy of improvement.”

And this... LOL

“Who gets to decide what ‘happiness’ is?” would be one question we might ask, given that some people, like me, are normal and well-adjusted, and other people put pineapple on pizza and enjoy listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.”

Who indeed?!? I happen to love both Hawaiian Pizza AND the Red Hot Chili Peppers!

"How to Be Perfect" on Goodreads

I have been all in my feelings for 2 weeks with the love and connection that I felt at this year's Nature Retreat. As she prepared for our yoga sessions, Evan curated playlists of songs specifically for this retreat and for the themes we intended to weave throughout the whole weekend. This being my favorite.

"Look up, do you see the sunlight? Look up, there's flowers in your hair
Hold on, 'cause somebody loves you.
You know trouble's always gonna be there. Don't let it bring you to your knees

Look up."
