SJCLT Receives Candid Platinum Transparency and 4 Stars From Charity Navigator

 SJCLT has received the Platinum Transparency rating from Candid (formerly Guidestar). In Addition, Charity Navigator has awarded SJCLT a 100% 4-star rating.

Have you driven down Highway 50 lately and seen the caravan of semi-trucks carrying large containers wrapped in white? Those are modular units headed to the site of the 248-unit Sugar Pine Village workforce rental project being developed by Related California and SJCLT. Infrastructure construction is underway, and these modular units are now being assembled like a jigsaw puzzle. Exterior finishes are added after the units are properly assembled.

Financing for Phase 2 is expected to close in August.

Washoe Tahoe Housing Partnership Finalizes a Housing Roadmap Identifying Housing Needs and Recommending Steps to Address the Needs
 

The Washoe Tahoe Housing Partnership is a working group convened by the Tahoe Prosperity Center (TPC) and composed of stakeholders and community representatives concerned about the growing housing issues in the Washoe County portion of the Lake Tahoe Basin, including Saint Joseph Community Land Trust. The work of this group is similar to the recent South Shore Housing Needs & Opportunities study and follow on Action Plan also convened by TPC.

The Partnership recently finalized its Housing Roadmap identifying the housing needs and providing recommendations to address the housing shortfalls. The Roadmap was presented to the Washoe County Board of Commissioners earlier this month and the Commission voted to acknowledge the report. In the coming months County staff will be reviewing the recommendations and reporting back to the board with its recommendations following up on the Roadmap.

SJCLT Receives $20,000 Parasol Community Fund Grant for Its Acquisition & Predevelopment Fund to Support New Projects
 

The Community Fund and the CM Charis Fund II held at the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation has awarded SJCLT a $20,000 grant to grow the Acquisition & Predevelopment Fund. This fund provides much needed funds to cover the upfront acquisition and/or predevelopment costs (engineering, architectural, permits, etc.) incurred by a project before the project breaks ground. Construction and/or permanent financing is often provided by financial institutions or investors but sources of funds for acquisition and predevelopment costs are scarcer.

This fund is a revolving fund so to the extent that revenues upon sale of the SJCLT constructed home exceed costs the fund is replenished to provide funds for future projects-- the gift that keeps on giving.

• direct unrestricted donation to SJCLT

• donation to SJCLT reserving a life estate for the donor which allows the donor to remain in possession while alive.
