Be Of Love

"Be of love (a little) more careful than of anything" quote from e.e. cummings (Artwork by Corita Kent)

More than anything, what the world needs is love.

Yes, the problems are many. Yes the world seems out of whack. That is why we need to be careful and to focus on the solutions. Love is the solution. Love of the earth. Love of one another. Love of our shared future.

From catastrophic wildfires to global pandemics to the ever-deepening drought, farming is risky business. This is even more true for smaller family farms and those from BIPOC, immigrant, and disadvantaged communities. Despite being the heart of our local food systems, these community-scale entrepreneurs too often fall between the cracks of traditional safety nets and government aid. That’s where we come in. The California Family Farmer Emergency Fund offers direct financial support to the most vulnerable farmers impacted by disaster. You can help make this fund possible.

PLEASE CONSIDER GIVING TODAY, HELPING TO ENSURE THE RESILIENCE OF THOSE WHO GROW OUR FOOD AND STEWARD OUR LAND. EVERY DOLLAR HELPS.

Our Global Family Farm is rebounding from the storm. Please show us some love.

The storms that hit the Central Coast meant that our farmland located at City Farm SLO was inundated with rainwater that suffocated crops, blew over our meeting area and made it impossible to get to the farm for a month. It is still a muddy mess out there. We will have to start rebuilding the soil again, to plant crops again, to tend to the herbs and trees again.

The biggest way to show some love to Our Global Family Farm is to show up on Sundays 9am to 1pm, to volunteer in the repairs and restoration of our garden. It is a "community farm" that we all operate together. Then we give our produce to the community meal at Mitchell Park on Sundays.

We do have Cal Poly students helping through the College Corps program. Here is a video of them helping to prune fruit trees a month ago.

Come on Sundays to Our Global Family Farm 9am to 1pm to be part of the local permaculture scene.

Come out to the farm every Sunday, 9am to 1pm to our permaculture demonstration Food Forest called Our Global Family Farm. Get inspired by the trees, vegetables and herbs from around the globe. Get inspired to see the people, young and old alike, who come to help at the farm. We are located at City Farm SLO --- 1221 Calle Joaquin Road off Highway 101 at LOVR.

We are all part of one global family! Here is a photo of some storm damage.
