Allen Jones It is with great sadness that we need to let you know that Allen Jones has passed away. Disability Assist staff and all who knew him are in shock and very upset at this news. Allen worked, with a few others, to set up the organisation in 2002, remaining involved and as chairman for a great many years. Aside from this, he was a great friend to us all. He personally supported and encouraged us, provided paid employment opportunities and gave us the confidence to take the organisation forward. He was instrumental in helping many thousands of disabled people but never wanted to take any credit for the great work he did. Allen, we will always remember you as the kind, funny, amazing person you were. Thank you for everything, you are already missed by all of us who knew you. |

She chairs forums, including the Kent Physical Disability forum and provides input and feedback to various organisations to make sure they take a disabled person’s perspective into account. Her favourite part of the job is “empowering people and helping them to make the best of things. I want to encourage disabled people to have a life, and I think it’s important that we have the same opportunities to do the things that everyone else gets to do.” |
